Who We
Are

Mission: As an ambassador of the gay community, the Triangle Gay Men's Chorus provides a collaborative artistic home for men to nurture their musical abilities through performance.

Vision: Brothers singing * Declaring pride * Touching lives

Why the
Triangle
Gay Men's
Chorus?

TGMC is named for the geographic region we are from. Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill make up what has become known as the Research Triangle. Many high technology firms have moved to this area to capitalize on the close proximity of four universities located in each of the cities in the Triangle (NCSU, Duke, NCCU and UNC-CH). Members of the chorus are from all 3 cities plus numerous smaller centers in the area.

Affiliations

The Triangle Gay Men’s Chorus is a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA). GALA's International Festival 2004 was held recently in Montreal, Canada, and the Chorus performed there.

History
Lesson

The Triangle Gay Men's Chorus was founded by a group of 16 men on January 16, 1995. It presented its debut concert on June 3, 1995. Since then, TGMC has performed throughout the Triangle area. Besides the regular concert cycle, TGMC has performed for the following groups:
  • NC Pride
  • Stonewall Supper
  • Crape Myrtle Festival
  • Triangle Business and Professional Guild
  • ACRA
  • Human Rights Campaign
  • Evening with Friends
  • Festival for the Eno
  • Duke University Lavender Graduation
  • EPA
  • GalaxoSmithKline
  • Gay Games 2006
  • GALA 2006 in Montreal, Canada

Funding

TGMC members pay seasonal dues to be part of TGMC. However, member dues cover only a portion of annual expenses incurred by TGMC each year (music acquisition, GALA dues and administrative costs). Thus, we also depend on revenues from concert ticket sales and donations from our supporters to make the organization viable.

TGMC is a registered non-profit organization with full 501c(3) status and thus donations to the chorus are tax-deductible. If you would like to be a chorus patron, or if you have questions, please contact us by mail or send us an email message.
